Hello everyone!
For those that don't know me, I'm David or if you've seen me online, I go by the username "Fladoodler18" (pronounced f-la-doo-de-ler).
A few small things about me:
- I'm a Floridan from birth. I'm originally from the West coast of Florida and moved to the Orlando area when I went to college.
- I come from a big family and spend lot of time with them throughout the year and throughout the country.
- I work in the Hospitality industry, serving guests from all over the world. I've done that for half a decade now and enjoy doing that!
- I am currently one of the mods on r/OCLions on Reddit, the largest group of Orlando City fans on Reddit. I joined the mod team 5 years ago and it has been a great exercise in trying to grow the fandom of Orlando City fans.
About My Fandom(s)
Since I was a kid I followed various sports teams in my area. I still regularly follow/support the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the Tampa Bay Rays, the Tampa Bay Lightning, and UCF Football. But don't worry... I don't follow or support the Tampa Bay Rowdies and I never will. I do have to thank one of Tampa's team for getting me into following soccer as well as the U.S. Women's National Team (USWNT).
When I was a kid, playing youth soccer as I'm sure many did, I was able to get some free tickets to see the Tampa Bay Mutiny. Throughout my childhood I saw a total of 5 games at Raymond James Stadium and after that, I was enamored with the professional game-I can chalk a lot of that up to Carlos Valderrama.
Once I moved up to Orlando and found out that a professional team was going to join Major League Soccer (MLS), I was very excited but too busy in school to put a ton of focus on following the team. However, when I finally finished my undergraduate degrees, I was finally able to dive in head first into the current team but also dive into the history of the club during its United Soccer League (USL) days.
So Why A Blog?
I decided to create this blog as an outlet to get my longer thoughts about Orlando City, Orlando City B, Orlando City's Academy, Orlando Pride, and other sports items. I will do my best to have pages for each of the different topics in case my readers are only interested in a specific topic.
There are a few caveats I'd like to put out there:
- All opinions on this blog are my own. They don't reflect my family, friends, employer, or any other organization or group.
- I will do my best to avoid adult language or adult topics. I want my work to be accessible to as many people as possible and there are ways I can put more adult content out there, if I need to.
- Most of my posts will be data heavy. Due to this, I will create an index/glossary page to help guide readers who aren't as data driven, to understand the data I'm talking about. I will also try to define those items in post.
- I'm open to any Orlando soccer fan/outlet/podcast to use my work. Please just cite me as the source for the article/information you use. I don't plan on making anything off this blog, I just appreciate the shout out.
- Though I have not followed the club for as long as others may have, I do my best to understand the clubs past and put that in perspective on my current writing. The past gives us a great jumping off point for understanding the clubs now.
- Lastly, any comments on players/staff/club officials, are not to attack the person themselves. It's simply an evaluation on their job performance, nothing more.
You can follow me on various social media links that I will have below. I tend to post more short form items on there if you don't want to read so much and thanks for stopping by!
